Oil of LEXUS IS250
As you know, there are many kinds of thinking way for oil change. For example, they are oil change after 1 month or 1,000 km, span of oil change and grade of oil etc. Some people consider that it is not neccesary to change the oil. They also think that is enough to supplement by neccesity. I would like to write my opinion.
The oil change after driving 1 month or 1,000 km
The purpose of oil change after driving 1 month or 1,000 km is to remove the scrap metal in engine created by wearing of metal or burr on a machined metal. Long ago, this story was true. There were many scrap metal in engine after driving 1 month or 1,000km. Recently, the part precision of automotives become very well. Many people consider that it is not neccesary to change the oil after driving 1 month or 1,000 km.
Actually, I know that the progress of technologis are remarkable. The precision of each parts is extremely well. I think, however,aoutomotives are industrial products. The parts of automotives have tolerance of thier dimensions. There is not same product exactly in the world. It has possibility the combination of bad compatibility. So, I think it is better to change oil after driving 1 month or 1,000 km. The oil change after driving 1 month or 1,000 km is not included LEXUS Care Maintenance Program (LCMP). Even though, I carried out oil change.
Span of Oil Change
According to engine service information, we can change the oil every driving 15,000 km or 12 month. We also change the oil filter and air cleaner element every driving 15,000 km and 50,000 km, repectively. For your information, it doesn't to inspect ignition plug, because LEXUS adopt iridium plug.
The LEXUS dealer change the oil every 6 month or 7,500 km for 3 years by LCMP. They also change oil filter every 12 month. Additionally, they change wiper blade and air cleaner filter every 12 month. Average Japanese LEXUS owner drive 10,000 or 12,000 km every year. So it is reasonable to change oil every 6 month and oil filter every 12 month. Regarding me, I drove my LEXUS IS250 version S over 30,000 km for 2 years.
Grade of Oil
THe LEXUS recommend us to use motor oil SM 5W-30(API SM, EC/ILSAC GF-4 SAE 5W-30) or SM 10W-30(API SM, EC/ILSAC GF-4 SAE 10W-30) or SL 5W-20(API SL, EC SAE 5W-20) or SL 10W-30(API SL, EC SAE 10W-30) made by TOYOTA. In the API standard, SM is best grade. The kind of oil result life time of automotives. In my individual opinion, the SM grade oil will be good for the automotives. What is your criterion to choose the oil?
